Sugar Bear’s Cupcake Shack
Sugar Bear's Cupcake Shack is named after the Chumash symbol of hospitality. The passion and creativity of Ventura native Executive Baker Kayla Hernandez shines in all of our flavors. Our cupcakes are baked fresh daily using wholesome ingredients, with no hydrogenated fats or stabilizers. Kayla is assisted by students and alumni of Ventura High School’s Culinary Arts program, where she first received her culinary inspiration. The owner, Steve Tobey, believes in the value of community/business partnerships.
The Sugar Bear currently offers over 25 varieties of cupcakes, including Gluten-free and Vegan choices. New flavors are developed seasonally and by request. The Sugar Bear Classic, a mouthwatering combination of brown sugar, cinnamon and buttermilk with a hint of coconut, is our signature flavor. The Grand Opening featured Cupcake and Wine pairings, which met with rave reviews! Each new flavor is named by customers via a popular Facebook naming contest, and each name must feature BEAR somewhere in the moniker.
